چکیده

We report chain self-diffusion and viscosity data for sodium polystyrene sulfonate (NaPSS) in semidilute salt-free aqueous solutions measured by pulsed-field gradient NMR rotational rheometry, respectively. The molecular weight of NaPSS is characterized using five techniques. Relationships between Mw the intrinsic diffusion coefficient excess salt are established. Anomalous diffusion of a polymer chain in an unentangled melt.

Contrary to common belief, hydrodynamic interactions in polymer melts are not screened beyond the monomer length and are important in transient regimes. We show that viscoelastic hydrodynamic interactions (VHIs) lead to anomalous dynamics of a tagged chain in an unentangled melt at t<t(N), the Rouse time. The center-of-mass (c.m.) mean-square displacement is enhanced by a large factor increasin...

Influence of polymer architectures on diffusion in unentangled polymer melts.

Recent simulations have indicated that the thermodynamic properties and the glassy dynamics of polymer melts are strongly influenced by the average molecular shape, as quantified by the radius of gyration tensor of the polymer molecules, and that the average molecular shape can be tuned by varying the molecular topology (e.g., ring, star, linear chain, etc.). In the present work, we investigate...

Relationship between diffusion, self-diffusion and viscosity

We investigate the experimental limits of validity of the Stokes–Einstein equation. There is an important difference between diffusion and self-diffusion. The experimental evidences show, that in the case of selfdiffusion the product Dg/T is constant and the Stokes–Einstein equation is still valid. On the other hand, comparison of existing experimental data, on viscosity g and diffusion coeffic...

Distinguishing unentangled states with an unentangled measurement

In a 1991 paper, Asher Peres and the author theoretically analyzed a set of unentangled bipartite quantum states that could apparently be distinguished better by a global measurement than by any sequence of local measurements on the individual subsystems. The present paper returns to the same example, and shows that the best result so far achieved can alternatively be attained by a measurement ...

Shear Viscosity and Diffusion in Supercooled Liquids

Under normal liquid conditions (at equilibrium or when moderately super cooled), molecular rotational and translational diffusion adhere closely to the sim ple Stokes-Einstein-Debye hydrodynamic model. Deeply supercooled "fragile" liquids present a striking exception, with translational diffusion alone occurring up to 102 — 103 times "too fast". This anomaly rests upon the statistics of fluct...
